DAYS.IN.DENVER | Brittany Howard found success mapping the best kid-friendly spots in Denver — but she still couldn’t find child care that worked for her family.
Brittany Howard has built a following of nearly 60,000 parents on Instagram by helping families discover kid-friendly activities through her popular Days in Denver map — a go-to guide for things to do with children across the Mile High City.
But despite being an expert at helping families navigate Denver, Howard says finding affordable child care for her own family felt impossible.
“Part of why I became a stay-at-home mom came down to child care costs,” Howard said. “When we actually looked at the numbers, it just didn’t make sense for me to keep working. And when the costs outweigh the benefits, the system is broken.”
Now, Howard is speaking out about the difficult financial and personal decisions many families face when it comes to child care. She’s also encouraging other parents to share their experiences in hopes of bringing more attention to the growing strain child care costs are placing on families.
“Sharing real stories is what pushes these conversations forward,” Howard said.
