Me and my partner have a new born that we are fostering. It has been a huge change, I work full time and my partner works full time as well. With out childcare there is no way we both could work. My wife does work at home but has to be on her computer all day and I work at an office. Thankful for the childcare center that we go to.

CPCD has been a complete godsend for me and my family! And the time of my son’s acceptance into the program couldn’t have come at a more crucial time with the passing of my dad and the once again brand new start at figuring out life again and not really knowing where to begin. I couldn’t imagine the confusion around the loss my son had to be feeling as well!! Starting school not only gave my ...

I was working at a daycare when I had my son. I went back when he was 8 weeks old and worked for about 6 months until we were literally drowning financially because we were paying for my son to go to the same daycare that I worked at. My partner was working full time as well. And as an employee I was receiving a "discount" for the weekly tuition. By the time my son was 8 months old I had to ...
Cheryl, single mother of one
Having childcare at CPCD helps me be able to work and provide for my child and helps me be able to do errands and go to appointments. Also, my child is able to be around other kids his age which has helped him build social skills. With limited childcare options in my community though, it has been a challenge to find care outside of school hours and days and will be more challenging during ...

During my initial home visit, Mom shared that she was currently unemployed and living in Colorado Springs with her children, while Dad worked fulltime in Breckenridge. The family had made the difficult decision to live separately because the high altitude in Breckenridge caused significant health issues for Mom. To protect her well‑being, she relocated with the children to Colorado ...

Childcare has helped me tremendously, Although at first, it was a little difficult because I didn’t know about the CPCD And trying to find childcare was hard I was missing a lot of work. Being able to go to work and not have to worry about finding someone to be with my young children has made it easier and having a peace of mind to know they are being properly cared for and not only that ...
Grace, first time parent
I live just south of Colorado Springs in an area called Security-Widefield in unincorporated El Paso county. We are very near Fort Carson but are non-service members/non-veterans.
I had a premature baby in April of 2025. He was 10 weeks early and we had not yet gotten on any childcare waitlists yet though we knew we wee behind. I started having high risk issues and was struggling to go to ...
Kandy, mother of one child
The lack of childcare has affected my ability to work BIG TIME. It was not until June 2024 that I found an overnight job that allowed me to receive a bit more income to help my partner (my son's dad) and I pay bills that we were drowning in. We made too much money to qualify for food stamps. The lack of child care has caused me to work nine different jobs from the time my son was six months ...
BH, ECE Professional
I work full-time in the early childhood field. Over the years, I’ve been a teacher, a director, a coach, and everything in between. I’ve seen this work from every angle — the joy, the dedication, and the weight families and educators carry every single day.
Right now, I’m living with my sister, her husband, and their two young children. What was supposed to be a temporary living situation ...

It was hard not having child care since I was not flexible with work and movement around with the crazy weather sometimes. As a new mom sometimes you need some space just to breathe and relax. Having child care did help the healing from mental breakdown. My childcare professional Mrs. Deborah and family advocate Maria has been my mentors. They feel like my own Family. I really thank God for them.

Cpcd has been nothing less than a blessing. Before my children started at Cpcd I wasn’t able to finish classes or even consider working. I also had no time to myself to get laundry done or clean things up around my house. This was the first deployment Andrew had where the kids and I didn’t go with him. So I had the responsibility of both kids constantly by myself with all our family either ...
Dan Adam, Small Business Owner
I was a single parent for many years. At the time, I was an entry-level automotive technician, not making a lot of money. I was fortunate enough to find a woman who was doing childcare out of her house. She was able to work with my schedule, and the cost was something I could manage.
That worked out nicely, but then she ended up moving out of state. When that happened, I had to go back to ...
JD, parent of three
Due to childcare expenses, my family has had to rely on one parent staying home. Even when options for head start became available, the hours or days did not align with regular schedule hours of work. Therefore, I have been unable to pursue my own career goals until all of my children were in school. Even then, because after school is expensive, I have only been able to attend school myself. ...

When I'm working days, you're working nights, and all we're doing is handing off a kid and we're tired all the time, we're not working with our kids to make sure they know how to spell their name, to make sure they know ABCs. Kids are less and less prepared for kindergarten than ever before. When you have a bad economy, stress goes up. Domestic violence goes up. People can’t handle life when ...

Having child care has made a difference in my life through watching my daughter thrive and being able to communicate with her. Before she started preschool, her speech was limited and sometimes it was a little difficult to understand her. Now, I am able to have effective conversations with my daughter. Watching her thrive with more confidence as she communicates has been some of the most ...
